STEPHENS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 

School – Parent Compact 

2023 – 2024 

 

Stephens Elementary School and parents of students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) agree that this compact outlines how the parents, faculty and students will share responsibility for improving student academic achievement. By which, the school entity and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help students achieve the State’s high standards. 

School Responsibilities 

Stephens Elementary School will: 

1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows: 

  • Deliver standards-based instruction through interesting and challenging lessons that promote achievement. 

  • Maintain the expectation that all students can learn. 

  • Endeavor to motivate students to learn by recognizing accomplishments and gains. 

  • Participate in professional development opportunities that improve teaching and learning. 

2. Host a Curriculum Night early in the school year to communicate goals and expectations. Additionally, host Parent Conferences to communicate with parents regarding student progress and support strategies at the end of the 1st grading period and when requested. 

3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their child’s progress through report cards, phone calls, written notes, and information in the student folder. 

4. Provide parents information when staff is available for consultation. 

5. Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s education by promoting PTA membership, participation in literacy/mathematics information events, and school performances. 

 

Parent Responsibilities 

Parents will support children’s learning in the following ways: 

1. Monitoring attendance/ participation. 

2. Monitoring child’s progress in school. 

3. Supporting children in completion of homework and/or reading each. 

4. Supporting the school and student by attending curriculum night, parent-teacher conferences, information nights, student performances, school activities, and reviewing school information that is sent home. 

5. Communicating with school staff. 

 

Student Responsibilities 

Students will share the responsibilities to improve academic achievement in the following ways: 

1. Demonstrate their best effort on assignments, whether in the classroom or as homework. 

2. Ask for assistance when something is not fully understood. 

3. Communicate with parents and teachers about their school experiences. 

4. Provide to parents or guardians all notices and information given at school that is to go home. 

5. Maintain appropriate behavior.
